Your scars tell a story of strength.

Go beyond healing damaged tissue towards emotional healing, empowerment, and self-acceptance.

Scar Release Therapy is designed to loosen scars, improve lymph flow and circulation, reduce the size of the scar, speed healing, and release emotions that can be locked in scar tissue.

My C-Section Scar Story…

In 2009 and 2011, I underwent two C-sections just 17 months apart, both leaving their mark on the same incision site.

The first pregnancy was emotionally charged due to complications with pre-eclampsia and fast forward to 2014, the lingering effects of the scar manifested as back pain.

Despite trying acupuncture, massages, and workouts, the dull intermittent pain persisted. Then, a mysterious left foot pain emerged and persisted for about 1.5 years, resisting various treatments.

It wasn't until a chiropractor suggested addressing my c-section scar that a breakthrough occurred. After just one treatment, the foot pain decreased by 80%, and after three sessions, both foot and back pain vanished completely.

The transformative impact of scar release on my overall well-being was nothing short of remarkable and led me down a path of wanting to help others find the same relief.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When a scar forms, it is made up of positive polarity scar tissue, which doesn't mesh well with surrounding negative polarity healthy tissue. Scar release therapy works to change the polarity of the scar tissue so it blends more seamlessly with the healthy tissue surrounding it, reducing pulling throughout the body's fascial system which can often cause pain and other symptoms.

Because scars result in a tightening of the surrounding tissue, they can restrict movement, mobility or functions in the body. These restrictions not only affect the joint, limb or area surrounding the scar, but they can affect the underlying organs and more distal areas of the body too. This is because scar tissue has the potential to spread in any direction, including internally, and throughout the body. Fortunately, releasing the scar can yield powerful results, including speeding healing of fresh scars, improving mobility, diminishing complications and decreasing pain often associated with deep scars (think unexplained headaches, foot pain, shoulder pain including frozen shoulder, back pain and more).

MPS (Microcurrent Point Stimulation) is the Health Canada approved, natural healing method I use to release scars and it is very effective in treating large, deep, and/or painful scars, especially in the midline (think c-section, appendix, gall bladder, bowel re-sections, tonsils, etc). The term ‘release’ refers to the releasing or relaxing of contracted and tightened tissue.

In general, this treatment is completely painless. The use of the microcurrent system (MPS) on the tissues surrounding the scar creates a healing, inflammatory response. Dead cells and scar tissue are broken down by the body; circulation is increased to the area; and the lymphatic system clears out the dead cells.

You will see visible changes in the appearance of the scar and will gradually notice a reduction in the tightness and restriction felt at the site of the scar.

Since the body’s fascial system is interconnected, a restriction or adhesion in one area will often affect other areas and result in compensation patterns and pain. When a scar has been released there is no longer a restriction in the flow of energy, blood circulation and lymph drainage. The body can then complete the healing process.

When we think of scars, we often think of visible scars from trauma, injuries or surgery. There are other types of scars and adhesions that respond extremely well to Scar Release Therapy. I have had pretty amazing results treating tonsillectomy scars, broken nose scarring, and deep scarring from laparoscopic surgeries - none of which are visible on the skin.

  • Microcurrent point stimulation (MPS therapy) treats chronic and acute soft tissue pain and scars in an all natural, drug-free way.

This is done by applying direct flow microcurrent to specific areas and acupuncture points, providing quick and effective pain relief.

  • Benefits include:

-Speeds up the healing process of scars.

-Decreases pain and resistance in the connective tissue (fascia).

-Helps to relax and fade scar tissue.

-Promotes the release of emotional traumas stored in scar tissue.

  • The best time to treat a scar is as soon as possible (even while stitches or staples are still present), but it’s never too late. Even older scars show remarkable change after just one treatment. Keep in mind, my treatment room is on the third floor (no elevator), so if getting up to my room will be an issue, please contact me to discuss options.

  • Most scars require 1-5 treatments. It depends on where you are in the healing process and the pain you are experiencing.

  • No, the treatment isn’t typically painful. There may be some tender points along your scar that will feel a bit like a bee sting or pins and needles, but that will subside immediately after treatment. Other sensations that may occur include itching or a slight vibration through the scar. Mostly, you won’t feel much at all!

  • Yes! It is billed under the umbrella of Massage Therapy. Please note, I do not direct bill, rather I provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurer. I accept debit, e-transfer and cash as forms of payment. No credit cards please.

  • Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapist’s day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee equivalent to the full cost of their appointment.

  • Not necessarily. It all depends on where the scar is and/or if you have booked a treatment including a massage. If you do decide to disrobe, professional and respectful draping is used at all times.
